Biography

Biographical Sketch - Bob Knowles, President, SecureCyber Destruction

Founding a technology recycling business was a logical step for Bob Knowles. During his career, Knowles has successfully launched four start-up companies and was instrumental in establishing two new branch offices for large corporations, so an entrepreneurial approach to the emerging problem of the safe disposal of obsolete computer technology led to the formation of SecureCyber Destruction in January 2004.

Since that time, Knowles has built SecureCyber Destruction into the nation's largest computer disposal and materials recycler in the nation, covering the lower 48 states and more than 200 cities.

Knowles has been particularly successful in identifying and solving problems associated with handling of obsolete computers and data, because he has more than 25 years of experience in the technology arena. He has held positions with Data General Corp., Micro Technology, Inc., GE Information Services, Xerox Corp. and more. This extensive experience with hardware and software issues has allowed him to predict and highlight how the mishandling of old computers and data can lead to serious problems in data security, privacy and identity theft.

Knowles also is a strong environmentalist, and is certified in environmental mediation. His over-riding goal in handling the millions of old computers safely and responsibly is to protect people from privacy breaches, and to solve a huge environmental problem that will haunt generations to come.
